Achievements
Fences and Gates
We have reduced the number of off-road bicycles and car
dumping by raising money for fences, signs and gates. (See here)
Training
We have received training in Health and Safety at Work,
First Aid in the Workplace and Risk Assessment. We have also received training
with hand tools, and layering a willow fence. We received training from Durham
Wildlife Trust about badger den recognition.
Red Squirrels
With the help of Durham Wildlife Trust we have identified
the presence of native red squirrels in the woods and purchased two 'red
squirrel only' feeders. (See photo).
Protective Clothing
We have purchased warm weather fleeces and waterproof
clothing, bags (for books during field trips), magnifying lenses, a First Aid
Box and emergency blanket.
Bats
We bought a commercial hetrodyne bat detector, and
discovered bats. These were 45khz
Pipistrelle. We recorded the call and produced a sonogram.
