Himalayan balsam

Himalayan balsam is now a major problem in the woods, as despite the efforts of the group, it is taking over areas of the wood. Without a major effort from the council and other environmental agencies, as well as the Woods Group. it will take over all of the woodland and spread into surrounding land.

Fly tipping and pollution of the stream.

Vandalism. Someone tried to trash the willow dome build for the children at a local school.

Fortunately it could be repaired. A willow arbor wasn't so lucky.

This car had been dumped and torched.

We have reduced this by building fences and gates. (Photos)

Fires

The result of children lighting fires in the woods.

Erosion through off road bicycles.

We hope to reduce this with fences and gates. (Photos).

Derwentside District Council have also deemed all their land off limits to off the road vehicles.
